Homicide investigation underway in Orillia, Ont.

An Orillia OPP spokesperson confirmed a homicide investigation is underway in the city.

On Thursday at about 8:20 p.m., someone found a man with serious injuries laying on Coldwater Road near Emily Street in Orillia.

The 34-year-old man, from Orillia, was sent to a hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries.

Police believe there’s no elevated risk to public safety at this time.

Coldwater Road, between Cameron Street and Collegiate Drive and including Emily Street, is closed as a result of the investigation.

Police say to avoid the area if possible and that all vehicle and pedestrian traffic is being rerouted.
