Forest fire forces evacuation in northern Saskatchewan

FOND-DU-LAC, Sask. – Fond-du-Lac is experiencing a nearby forest fire and heavy smoke is billowing over the northern Saskatchewan community.

The decision has been made to partially evacuate 100 high priority residents to Prince Albert due to heavy smoke.

Some residents have already been flown out of the remote community with the first plane taking off around noon today.

Evacuees will be staying at the Prince Albert Inn.

Environment Canada and government officials are monitoring the situation.
