OPP have taken a person into custody after an early morning manhunt near Kaladar, Ont – Nov 12, 2020

OPP have taken one person into custody after a manhunt south of Kaladar, Ont., Thursday morning.

Police say a car was damaged in a crash and shots were fired near a residence on County Road 41, near Raccoon Lake Trail Road, around 6 a.m. Thursday.

The suspect reportedly fled into the forest, according to OPP. No injuries have been reported.

Around 8 a.m. Thursday, OPP asked those in the Kaladar area to shelter in place due to what they said was a dangerous armed person at large.

Police closed County Road 41 near Raccoon Lake Trail due to an “armed and dangerous” person in the area. As of 11:30 a.m. Thursday, the road has reopened.

OPP ordered hunters in the area to stay away, and asked friends and family of those out hunting to contact them immediately.

Details about the arrest have yet to be shared, but police say there is no long a threat to public safety in the area.

Police say they will release details about the arrested individual and possible charges at a later time.
