A homicide investigation is underway after police say a 25-year-old man was killed in Dartmouth Thursday.
Halifax Regional Police say they were called to an apartment complex on Primrose Street at around 6:30 p.m. for a weapons complaint that involved an injured man.
Officers arrived to find a man suffering from life-threatening injuries.
He was rushed to hospital, where he died at around 1 a.m., Friday. His death was quickly ruled a homicide.
A family member has confirmed to Global News that the victim of the homicide was 25-year-old Zach Grosse.
Police have not provided a description of the suspect and say they currently do not have anyone in custody.
Halifax Regional Police’s forensic team spent much of the day focusing on the parking lot outside the apartment at 24 Primrose Street, where a pool of blood could be seen near the building.
The section of road between Robert Burns Drive and Victoria Road remained closed for much of the day as police conducted their investigation.
They expect the road to reopen at 5 p.m.
No other details have been released and Halifax police declined an on-camera interview. Anyone with information is being asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
This is the sixth homicide in Halifax this year.
The most recent happened back on July 11, when an 85-year-old woman was killed in her home on Lynwood Drive in Dartmouth.
A 62-year-old man was later charged with first-degree murder in connection with her death.
