How Global News is covering the 2020 B.C. election

B.C.'s Chief Electoral Officer discusses how voting will work in the upcoming provincial election. – Sep 23, 2020

British Columbians are heading to the polls for a fall election on Saturday, Oct. 24, and Global News will have everything you need to make an informed decision.

This will be an election unlike any other with the COVID-19 pandemic, where advance voting and mail-in ballots are expected to play a bigger role than ever before.

Debate

The 90-minute televised debate took place Oct. 13 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and was broadcast on TV, radio and online.

It featured the three party leaders: BC NDP John Horgan, BC Liberal leader Andrew Wilkinson and BC Green Party leader Sonia Furstenau. The debate was moderated by Shachi Kurl, president of the non-profit Angus Reid Institute.

Election night

On election night, Global News will have robust coverage online, on social media and on the air — through both television and radio broadcasts.

Starting at 7 p.m., right after the News Hour, our anchors, reporters and panel of experts will break down the results as they come in and look at what it means for British Columbians.

Chris Gailus, Sophie Lui and Keith Baldrey will be anchoring the coverage from the Global BC studios.

Reporter Richard Zussman will be providing results from Victoria.

Neetu Garcha will be at the BC NDP headquarters, John Hua will be at the BC Liberal headquarters and Kylie Stanton will be at the BC Green Party headquarters.

Reporters Jordan Armstrong, Janet Brown and Sarah MacDonald will be around the Lower Mainland.

Global News will broadcast a province-wide Decision B.C. special that will have all the results and analysis on election night.

The special will start right after the News Hour and will run from 7 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on all platforms.
