Kingston police, along with their incident command team, were called to a home on Ford Street around 4 a.m. after a violent altercation sent three people to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police say a knife was used in the assault.

A male suspect then barricaded themselves inside the residence, according to police. Over the course of the more than 12-hour standoff, OPP had to be called in to help relieve Kingston police officers who had been there since the early morning hours, and help with negotiations.
