Toronto police say a man was shot in the leg after occupants of two cars were reportedly shooting at each other early Tuesday in south Etobicoke.
Emergency crews were called to Eighth Street and Morrison Street, just south of Lake Shore Boulevard West, at around 4:30 a.m. for reports of a shooting.
Investigators said there were reports of people in two cars shooting at each other and driving at high speeds.
Police said they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper thigh.
The man was taken to hospital by paramedics in serious but non-life-threatening condition.
It is unconfirmed if the victim was an occupant of one of the vehicles.
Shell casings were located near cars with bullet holes, police said, adding that there were two or three different areas where evidence of gunfire was found.
A gas meter was also struck by one of the bullets and Enbridge had to attend to shut the gas off, police said.
Investigators have not yet released any suspect information.
Streetcar service in the area has been suspended due to the police investigation, but shuttle buses are running. The 110 Islington South bus is also detouring.
