TORONTO – Tornado warnings have ended across parts of southern Ontario.
Tornado warnings were issued across the GTA including Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Markham, Newmarket early Thursday afternoon after a storm spotter reported a funnel cloud that was associated with a small thunderstorm near Orangeville.
Though the tornado warnings have ended, much of Southern Ontario remains under a severe thunderstorm watch, as there is still the chance that the region could see thunderstorms forming throughout the afternoon. Innisfil remians under a severe thunderstorm warning.
A watch is issued when conditions are favourable for severe weather. A warning is when hazardous weather is imminent or occurring.
Residents are urged to take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
