Growing demand for classroom space is creating jobs outside schools.

Kelowna’s Freeport Industries has received a contract to build 30 modular classrooms for BC school districts.

The contract creates 25 new jobs at Freeport Industries for the next seven months.

Freeport Industries is helping Aldergrove’s Shelter Industries supply almost $30-million worth of modular classrooms to BC schools.

The Central Okanagan will see 15, while three each will be delivered to Okanagan-Skaha and North Okanagan-Shuswap school districts.

Full-day kindergarten will see 40,000 students enter the school system in BC this fall, putting new demand on existing facilities. Kindergarten classes used to alternate half days in the same room.
