Ice wine harvest begins in Okanagan wine country

Tinhorn Creek Vineyards in Oliver’s Golden Mile has begun harvesting ice wine grapes, as the daytime temperature remains below -8 C due to an Arctic cold snap in the Okanagan Valley.

Wineries are often forced to pick grapes for this sweet dessert wine during the night, as Okanagan Valley temperatures rarely stay below -8 C in the winter.

Several wineries up and down the Okanagan Valley have begun ice wine grape harvest this morning.

Temperatures are expected to slowly rise this week, according to the weather office, with snow expected by the weekend.
