Crystal Goomansingh is Global National‘s Manitoba correspondent, based in Winnipeg.
She launched her broadcasting career in radio more than a decade ago, eventually making the jump to television news as a videojournalist, host and reporter by moving to Ontario and Alberta. The born and raised Winnipegger later moved back home to anchor and report for CBC Winnipeg.
Crystal’s experience, combined with her abilities to drill down to reveal the core issue of a story, landed her the role of Global National‘s Manitoba correspondent in 2007. But the job has taken her out of the province. She has travelled to Kandahar Airfield to cover the war in Afghanistan, the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, and to North Dakota to report on flooding in the Red River Valley.

Crystal’s inquisitive nature leads to uncovering the next story. She approaches every story with passion and emotion – but don’t take her for a pushover. She lives by one phrase that her mom drilled into her head as a child: “There’s no such word as ‘can’t.’”
Crystal is no stranger to hard work as she thrives in the high pressure and short timeline nature of broadcast journalism.
Outside of work, she loves spending time with her husband, travelling, reading and golfing.
