REGINA – A Vancouver company has been fined after a worker died at an exploration drilling site in northern Saskatchewan in 2011.
On Feb. 21, 2011, a crawl tractor broke through the ice into approximately 60 feet of water at the Can-Alaska uranium mine site on Cree Lake.
The 54-year-old operator of the D-6 Cat was killed.
J.D. Drilling pleaded guilty to one count under the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations for failing to ensure all work space at a place of employment was sufficiently and completely supervised.
Three other charges against the company were stayed.
The company was handed a fine of $46,000 last month in Regina provincial court.
