SASKATOON – On Saturday, Saskatchewan residents experienced a severe thunderstorm system that swept over east-central and the southeast portions of the province.
Today, photos of a tornado touching down are surfacing from Yorkton storm hunters Ryan Crouse and Katie Vickers.
Environment Canada says they received a report of a funnel cloud touching down between Wroxton and Kamsack near Highway 8 around 3:30 p.m.
Violent storm activity caused damage in the community of Rhein. Whether it was from straight-line winds or a tornado, Environment Canada says results could be seen this week.

Numerous tornado warnings and watches in the province ended around 7 p.m. on Saturday.
Meteorologists were tracking a low pressure system moving through east-central and southeast Saskatchewan which triggered thunderstorms with large hail, damaging winds and frequent lightning.
Golf ball-sized hail were reported in Saltcoats, Saskatchewan.
Around 5 a.m. yesterday, a weather radar station in Bethune was disabled and this could have been caused by lightning. It will be down for at least a couple days and this is quite unusual since they are protected for this sort of occurrence.
On Thursday evening, a tornado touched down near the communities of Dollard and Shaunavon in southwest Saskatchewan.
Saskatchewan’s tornado season typically runs from May to August.
