Vancouver police say they responded to “three unrelated stabbing incidents” over just 24 hours in the Downtown Eastside.
Three victims were taken to hospital but all are expected to survive.
Vancouver police say they were called Monday afternoon to Hastings and Main streets where a 20-year-old man had been stabbed. He was taken to hospital but the suspect is still outstanding at this time.
Several hours later, police were called to a lane in the area of Carrall and East Cordova streets, where a 34-year-old man had been stabbed. The suspect has not been located.
Tuesday morning, just before 6 a.m., officers were called to the intersection of East Hastings and Gore Avenue for a report of a multiple stabbing. Police say it appears a group of people tried to rob another group.
Officers found two people who were rushed to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
One suspect has been arrested.
“Our officers continue to deal with violent people and dangerous scenarios,” Const. Tania Visintin said. “Despite business closures and less people out during this pandemic, Vancouver police officers remain busy responding serious calls, helping those in need.
“As much as it is disturbing to know something so serious has happened, we do not believe there is any threat to the public at this time.”
