UPDATE: Two runways at San Francisco Airport (SFO) open following plane crash: Advisories

Two runways are now open at San Francisco International Airport following the plane crash of Asiana Airlines Boeing 777 on a runway earlier today.

The airport’s website is currently down.

Some flights were diverted to other airports.

More than 40 airlines fly in and out of SFO.

The airport is advising travellers to check with their airline for any updated information, but some airlines are starting to put out advisories already.

Air Canada has issued a travel notification for San Francisco Airport, saying flights may be delayed or cancelled.

Hawaiian Airlines tweeted ‘HA12 from HNL-SFO will operate as scheduled, departing at 2:15PM HST. Updates will be Tweeted.’

JetBlue will be communicating changes to affected customers:

Southwest Airlines are asking customers to visit their website for the most up-to-date information.

For flights from Canada, Vancouver International Airport now says flights are being diverted and flights from Vancouver to San Francisco are delayed. Travellers are advised to check with their airline first.

Toronto’s Pearson Airport are also not issuing any travel advisories at this time.
