The search for a missing elderly man with dementia has come to a sad end.

Delta Police were called to a wooded area off Swenson & Nordel Way on Sunday, where they discovered the body of missing 88-year-old Jarnail Sanghera of North Delta.

Delta Police tweeted Sunday evening that officers were expected to be at the location for a while.

They also say Sanghera’s family is aware of the discovery.

Delta police are not releasing further information until Monday morning.

Sanghera was last seen around 11 a.m. on Friday, May 15th at his family home near Nordel Way and 116th Street in North Delta.

Police had said Sanghera — who only spoke Punjabi — was a frequent transit user, and that he may have been heading to the Sikh temple at 140th Street and 84th Avenue in Surrey.
