Kelowna man loses $60-grand in timeshare scam

KELOWNA — A warning from police for timeshare owners. RCMP say a 79-year-old Kelowna man recently reported a huge financial loss after snapping up an offer to sell his timeshare.

“The Kelowna man was approached last year by a timeshare re-seller, World Wide Timeshare Properties, with an offer to sell his timeshare properties.” says Cst. Kris Clark with the Kelowna RCMP.

“To complete the sale, the owner would have to pay taxes, fees and other charges up front by sending the cash to an escrow service, All American Transfers. Neither World Wide Timeshare Properties nor All American Transfers are legitimate companies despite professional-looking websites.”

The Kelowna man lost nearly $60,000 to the scam.

RCMP remind you, if you are approached by a company to buy, sell or rent your timeshare, do your research to ensure the company is legitimate.
