The Saskatchewan Watershed Authority says average water daily flow below Gardiner Dam will be gradually increased starting this weekend.
Maintenance work on the Coteau Creek generating station is cited as reason for the increase.
Increased water flow could change ice conditions on the river, including cracking, heaving and areas of open water.
Although ice changes will be more noticeable in the area downstream from the dam, it will continue through Saskatoon and to the confluence with the North Saskatchewan River.
The increased water flow is expected to last until mid-February when the generating station is expected to be operating at full capacity.
