Gift wrap and tape were flying Saturday at Confederation Park Mall as over one hundred volunteers gathered to wrap up Rock 102’s Toy Soldier program.

This is the 4th year gift wrappers have gathered to wrap presents for the Salvation Army hampers and over 18,000 gifts have been wrapped yearly for the program. This year, over 19,000 toys were collected.

The Rock 102 Toy Soldier program began in 2004 when the Salvation Army discovered that without major support for their program, hundreds of children in Saskatoon would not receive any gifts at Christmas.

“There is nothing that says Christmas Spirit,” says Shack, Rock 102’s Morning Show host, “like the community coming together to help a less fortunate child have a toy to open on Christmas morning.”

The Salvation Army will be handing out the present to hundreds of families on December 22.
