Smog advisory issued for eastern Ontario

Environment Canada and the Ontario Ministry of the Environment have issued a smog advisory for parts of eastern Ontario.

The advisory was issued for Ottawa to Bancroft, south to Peterborough and toward Cornwall. It includes Kingston, Belleville, Smiths Falls and Prescott.

The ministries are asking the public to help combat air pollution by taking public transit or carpooling.

People with heart or lung disease should avoid outdoor activities. During a smog advisory, people may experience eye irritation and should avoid heavy exercise.
