Police investigating a rash of dumpster fires in southeast Calgary

Calgary police are searching for those responsible for a recent rash of arsons in the communities of Forest Lawn and Penbrooke Meadows.

Between Saturday, July 3rd and Monday, July 5th a number of dumpsters were set on fire behind elementary and junior high schools, as well as a garbage can, a shed and a fence in a residential area. Most of the incidents occurred between 1:00a.m. and 1:30a.m. on Saturday, July 3rd.

During the most recent incident on Monday, July 5th, two young people were seen on bicycles acting suspiciously just before 4:00p.m. where police found another dumpster set on fire behind a junior high school on 47th Street S.E.
