Global News has learned Friday’s devastating house fire in Bridlewood may have been sparked by a discarded cigarette in a planter with peat moss.
Investigators aren’t officially revealing the exact cause, but there is a strong indication the blaze on Bridlecrest Court was accidental.
A cigarette partially extinguished in a planter full of peat moss was to blame for the multi-million dollar fire in Millrise last month.
There are alternatives to peat moss on the market for gardeners, but most are equally flammable. Those who sell it, suggest common sense. Extinguish cigarettes in an ash tray, far from planters.
It is expected an official cause of the Bridlewood fire will be revealed in the coming days.
