Bomber fans wearing their best Blue and Gold attire flocked to eight Park and Ride locations around the city headed for kick off of the Bombers regular season against the Montreal Alouettes.

Bus loads of fans began arriving to the stadium with smiling faces,  game goers telling Global News they were thrilled with their latest transit  experience. The majority of fans, whether they walked, drove, or took transit, report smooth sailing.

“I didn’t come down Kenaston, I came down Waverley and it wasn’t as backed up,” said one fan. “I’m probably going to try the perimeter next game until I get accustomed to a good route.”

Another fan told Global News her bus ride took about 30 minutes.

“It took maybe half an hour. We came from Assiniboia Downs, we parked, got on the bus. It was very well organized, like, I’m thrilled. No worries whatsoever.”

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Winnipeg Transit have tripled the number of Transit buses from 60 to 180 since the exhibition game earlier this month.

By 7:15 p.m., 45 minutes before kickoff, traffic was completely clear on Southbound Pembina Highway at Chancellor Matheson Road, with most fans already in the stadium for the historic opening game.
