Kristi Gordon’s spider blooper goes viral

It started as a funny moment on the Noon News Hour, but it has now become an international viral hit.

Global BC meteorologist Kristi Gordon, who has a big fear of spiders, got an unexpected visit from a creepy crawly critter during a live broadcast on Friday.

But the ironic part was that the spider was not even in the same room.

It crawled onto Global’s tower cam in downtown Vancouver and was projected onto the green screen behind Kristi’s back.

Kristi’s amusing reaction went viral and is now getting millions of views on YouTube.

She says it still does not feel real.

“I get people all over the place – friends that I have not talked to in ages – saying, you are an international star and you are famous! And I am like, what? Because nothing has changed in my world. It is so strange to hear that.”

Gordon say the incident was a total fluke, and she is surprised the video is still going strong.

After the broadcast, Global BC online producer Jennifer Okrusko decided to upload the video to YouTube to see how much interest it can garner online.

By Friday night, the video was still stuck at 301+ views, a sure-fire sign the video will likely amass a lot of views later. It now stands at over 3.5 million views and was shared by GawkerHuffington PostThe TelegraphNational PostMSN Now and many others.

It wasn’t until Monday that Kristi realized the full scale of her newly found Internet fame.

“All of a sudden, I was getting all these emails and phone calls – at that point I thought – it was pretty funny. But to have it keep going this morning is crazy. I don’t know what to think of it. If it still keeps going, that will be hilarious.”
