Global News has learned that signs posted at the Terwillegar off leash park warning of dogs being poisoned may be a hoax. The signs posted throughout the park proclaim "WARNING, Dog poisoned, Terwillegar Park" and go on to claim that a dog has been euthanized as a result. The signs have caused most dog owners to keep a closer eye on their pets. As of Monday the signs had been covered up by new signs claiming that the warning was false, and that no local vet clinics have reported any such incidents.
After checking with the Edmonton Humane Society and local animal control Global News has learned that no such incidents have been reported. Animal control must be notified by vets if they treat an animal that has been poisoned in a public location. Those that frequent the park are now wondering who would be responsible for such a cruel joke.
Tune into the Early News at 5.00 for a full report on the so-called poisonings from Shane Jones.
