CHICAGO – Patrice Bergeron has been discharged from a Chicago hospital and is flying home to Boston with the Bruins, the team said Sunday.

Bergeron left Game 5 of the Stanley Cup final Saturday night with an undisclosed injury. He was taken to a hospital via ambulance.

The Bruins said he was released from the hospital Saturday night but did not provide any other details.

Bergeron took just two shifts in the second period of Boston’s 3-1 loss to the Blackhawks in Game 5. His status for Game 6 Monday in Boston isn’t clear.

Bergeron has arguably been the Bruins’ best forward in the Cup final. He has nine goals and six assists in 21 playoff games.
