CALGARY – No one was hurt in an early morning house fire in northeast Calgary despite the home not having any working smoke detectors.
Fire crews were called to the home on Castlegreen Close N.E. just before 1:00a.m. Tuesday morning.
Flames were shooting from the basement.
Firefighters managed to knock down the blaze quickly.
The home had one smoke detector on the main floor but it was not functioning properly.
Eight people were inside at the time.
The blaze was caused by unattended cooking in the basement of the home.
Damages are estimated at $30,000.
