Police said officers had been looking all day for the boy ever since he left his northeast Calgary school at 9 a.m.

Shortly before 8 p.m., police said the boy was found alone but unharmed on Riverfront Avenue in the city’s downtown core.

Police said no charges are expected and that the boy has been returned to his grandmother.

Earlier in the day, police issued a plea to the public asking for tips about the boy’s whereabouts. On Thursday night, police said it was a tip from the public that helped officers located the missing boy.
