Opposition says Flemming is purposely delaying catastrophic drug plan

FREDERICTON – Opposition critics in New Brunswick say the Conservative government is purposely delaying implementation of a catastrophic drug program.

Health Minister Hugh Flemming says a complete prescription and catastrophic drug program will be in place before the next election in September 2014.

The latest health and medical news emailed to you every Sunday.

Liberal health critic Donald Arseneault says the program could be rolled out sooner than that.

He says the government is dragging its heels to better position the program before the next election.

Flemming says that’s not true.

He says the program will be complex – and it will require time to set it up properly.
