C. Difficile — or Clostridium difficile — causes diarrhea, high fever and abdominal pain, and is spread from person to person.
Two patients with C. difficile are still being treated at the hospital. As a precaution, the hospital has introduced enhanced cleaning and extra monitoring, says Gillis. The unit is still accepting visitors, but they asked not to visit other areas of the hospital.
