Gallery: Storms across Ontario

TORONTO – Sunday was an active weather day across much of Ontario.

Readers contributed some amazing photos of storms as they passed through the province.

On Sunday afternoon, tornado warnings were issued for Sudbury and surrounding areas after a severe storm showed signs of strong rotation. Residents were advised to seek shelter.

In southwestern Ontario, tornado warnings were also issued when a storm crossed Lake Huron. The storm intensified and produced rain and hail. A funnel cloud east of St. Thomas was reported to Environment Canada. In Stayner, there were reports of pine trees being down.

Southern Ontario also experienced a severe thunderstorm with frequent lightning when a cell passed through Newmarket and moved east through Durham Region where heavy rain and hail were also reported.

Thunderstorms are forecast for southwestern and southern Ontario on Monday.
