EDMONTON- A popular south Edmonton bakery has closed its doors for the final time.
Bee-Bell Bakery, located at 104th Street and 80th Avenue, served its last customers Saturday, after more than 50 years in business.
Owners say retail sales have seen a steady decline over the past few years. They’ve now decided to focus more on their wholesale business, with their other business Sunrise Bakery.

Staff members say the bakery holds sentimental value for many people in the community. Everyone at the bakery says they’ll miss interacting with their customers, many of whom have been regulars for years.
“One unique thing we’ve seen this week is, when people are coming in, they’re coming in to buy something. It doesn’t have to be the certain product that they’re looking for. If we don’t have it available on our shelves, they end up just buying anything else. As long as they have a piece of Bee-Bell to walk out the door with, is what we’re finding,” said Operations Manager Sean Gillis.
