A school in Millet, Alberta is feeling the Christmas spirit – despite a year filled with tragedy for the small town.
Their annual Christmas campaign is raising money that, this year, will help the local victim services unit.
Children in kindergarten to grade four are making Christmas crafts to sell to family members. The money is collected by the school to purchase books and blankets for those in need.
"I spoke to victim services workers, they decided one thing they could really use was blankets and small things for kids to do. When I suggested books, as an elementary school, they thought that would be a very good idea," said Susan Coleman, vice principal of Millet School.
This is the ninth year that the school has raised money at Christmas to donate to a local group.
