Icy road conditions Wednesday may have been a factor in a busy night for Moose Jaw RCMP. They responded to two motor vehicle collisions on Highway 1 near Caronport. In the first, police responded to a semi trailer that had slid into a ditch.

As traffic passed the first incident, RCMP say an eastbound SUV was rear ended by another semi trailer and pushed into the centre ditch where the SUV rolled.

The 76 year old male passenger of the SUV died at the scene. The 69 year old female driver was taken to Regina General Hospital with serious injuries. The man’s name is not being released until his family has been notified.

The passenger in the semi trailer was also taken to Regina General with non life threatening injuries. The driver suffered only minor injuries. RCMP are still investigating.
