Six custom-made beehives were also taken.
Police say the beekeeper believes the theft happened between Sunday and Monday.
He told officers that many area keepers lost their bees to the cold during the winter and that he suspects the thief is another beekeeper who would be familiar with the handling and care of the insects.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Ontario Provincial Police or Crime Stoppers.
