The memory of 25-year-old Constable Chelsey Robinson will be honoured Friday afternoon in a dedication at "K" Division Headquarters. Constable Robinson was killed in a collision while on patrol near Stony Plain in June of this year.
Constable Robinson was born on April 22, 1985, and was posted to the Stony Plain detachment when she joined the RCMP on December 7, 2009. Before her posting in Stony Plain Cst. Robinson worked as a Forensic Identification Assistant in the RCMP Forensic Identification Section in Edmonton for nearly two years. Cst. Robinson graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in 2007.
Cst. Robinson was on patrol near Stony Plain in the early ours of June 21, 2010. She was searching for an impaired driver on Highway 16 and Range Road 15 when the vehicle she was in was hit by a tractor trailer. Cst. Robinson succumbed to her injuries a short time later.
The Wall of Honour was established on January 5, 2002 to honour members of the NWMP, RNWMP and RCMP killed in the line of duty while serving in Alberta, the wall is located in the lobby of "K" Division Headquarters in Edmonton. The names of 49 members are currently on the wall.
