MONCTON, NB – After months of complaints from teachers and students, Moncton High will be closed for the rest of the school year.
Starting at the end of October the district responsible for Moncton High School will begin shutting down the building.
The school has been the centre of health complaints, with teachers pointing out mould in the classrooms, and students saying the air has been making them sick.
The district sayas it has had over 240 work orders at the school in the last year and a half. They say the only way to get in and complete the repairs is to remove staff and students from the building.
Students from Moncton High will be divided into two schools.
By the end of October grades 11 and 12 will be moved to nearby Edith Cavell school, and in November the remaining students will be moved to the Northrup Frye school.
Further details on the move will be sent to parents when school reopens after the long weekend.
