He will be on probation for three years.

Whitlock showed no emotion when he was sentenced.

Last week at the pre-sentencing hearing, the court heard grisly details of how Whitlock attacked his dog “Captain” with a baseball bat, and then deposited the body, wrapped in a bloody blanket in the dumpster behind his Kits home.

He said he beat the dog to end ‘its suffering.

Crown recommended Whitlock get four to six months in jail with three years probation and a lifetime ban on owning animals.
