The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) was on scene Thursday in the 2900-block of 224 St.

Investigators say it’s unclear how the victim, Dennis Johnston, died.

Johnston lived in a bus parked alongside several campers in the back of the sprawling property.

The owner of the property said Johnston was “a good man,” and had no issues with police. He said the 67-year-old had lived on the property for about four years.

Johnston worked in construction in Burnaby, the owner added, and also worked as a mechanic in Langley.

Meanwhile, IHIT is appealing to the public for any information about his activities before that day, as well as anyone who was at a “social gathering” with Johnston earlier on Christmas Eve.

IHIT would not go into details about where that gathering was or who was there.

A man who reportedly called 911 was taken into custody Tuesday, only to be released later — but police would not say why.

No charges have been laid as of Friday.
