Evan Jarock said he heard a commotion around 6 a.m. on Christmas Day.
The noise was on the fourth floor, across the hall from Jarock’s brother’s apartment, where he was sleeping on the couch.
“I was scared in the first place; it didn’t sound good,” Jarock said.
“Once I was talking to the police officer and realized it was a homicide, I was taken aback. I can’t believe that would happen.
“There was some trouble happening. I heard people getting in fights or arguments. People kept coming in and out and then the commotion stopped and then about 20 minutes later I heard the police come in.”
Detectives want to speak with anyone who witnessed the incident, saying that people were seen driving away from the area.
Anyone with any information about the shooting is asked to call police at 780-423-4567 or to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online.
