POLL: NDP throws hat in the ring for Westside-Kelowna by-election

NDP leader Adrian Dix announces Carole Gordon as candidate in Westside-Kelowna by-election.

WEST KELOWNA — Another challenger has stepped forward to take on B.C. Premier Christy Clark in the Westside-Kelowna by-election.

Provincial NDP leader, Adrian Dix, is pitting public school teacher Carole Gordon against the premier.

“Carole Gordon and the B.C. NDP will make sure voters here in Kelowna and West Kelowna can choose a strong local voice to represent them,” says Dix.

Gordon is no stranger to the race, initially running in the riding during the 2013 election and losing to Liberal Ben Stewart, who has since stepped aside for the premier to potentially secure a seat.

Last night, Gordon was acclaimed the NDP candidate and will be officially nominated on Wednesday.

Today’s announcement comes on the heels of the Conservative party throwing its hat in the ring yesterday, naming Sean Upshaw its candidate in the upcoming by-election.
