Toronto police have identified the city’s latest murder victim, a teenager stabbed to death Saturday night on a quiet street in the upscale Forest Hill neighbourhood.
Shortly after 11:00 p.m., police responded to call near the park area of Hillcrest Junior Public School on Hilton Avenue, near Bathurst Street and Davenport Road, where they found a teenager suffering from stab wounds.
He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.
The victim has been identified as Justice Ferrigno, 16, of Toronto.
Police say the victim got into a fight with another male near the park, and it continued into the street, where he was stabbed.
He was last seen fleeing the area, on foot, in a westerly direction.
Police tell Global News the incident happened just down the street from a house party for some young teenagers.
Detective Mary Vruna says that neither the victim nor the suspect attended the party, but she believe that some of the invited guests may have witnessed the attack.
"Someone there did see what was happening and I strongly encourage them to come forward," said Det. Vruna.
The suspect is described as white, 5’9"-6′, slim build, with dark hair and glasses. He appears to be under 18. He was wearing a khaki-green, army-style jacket, and carrying a black bag.
