Four friends riding tandem bike to raise money for charities

It’s a lot of work to ride a bike across Canada, but imagine four people riding one bike that distance.

Four friends from Victoria, BC are biking together across the country to raise money for four separate charities: Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Canadian Diabetes Association and Friends of Red Tail.

Ian Bevis, Jeff Belanger, Ben Miller and Brenton Seamone call themselves The Tandem Team. On Saturday they rode through Regina, and they hope to make it to Halifax in two months.

The goal is to raise $5,000 for each of the charities. Once they finish their cross Canada tour, they plan on using the bike again to raise even more money.

“It was a $12,000 bike that they gave to us for cost because of what we’re doing,” Seamone said. “At the end we’re going to try and auction off the bike also and divide up what we make off that and donate that as well, donate the proceeds to the four charities.”
