A pedestrian who was hit by an SUV in west-central Edmonton on Monday morning has succumbed to his injuries, according to police.
The crash happened on 107 Avenue at 130 Street, just east of Groat Road, just before 7:30 a.m.
Police said the victim, a 52-year-old man, was crossing 107 Avenue in a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a Jeep Wrangler travelling westbound on the same street.
Alberta Health Services said EMS responded around 7:24 a.m., and paramedics took the victim to hospital in serious, potentially life-threatening condition.
The 54-year-old man who was driving the Jeep did not report any injuries.

The westbound lanes were closed for several hours and Edmonton police said traffic was being detoured north on 127 Street to 111 Avenue. The road was opened up to traffic again on Monday afternoon.
The Edmonton Police Service serious collision investigation team is investigating the incident.
