Laptop found, but photos erased

A stolen laptop containing a Winnipeg mom’s photos of her dead daughter has been found.

Police say the photos have been deleted and it’s not yet known if they can be retrieved.

"We were down at a recovery data place where we’ve left the hard drive and they are very optimistic about getting some of my pictures back," says Teresa Solta.

Solta’s laptop was stolen from a Toronto hospital room last weekend. It contained photos of her 17-year-old daughter Marisa who died of cancer in March.

Solta is from Winnipeg and is in Toronto to be with her 89-year-old father while he undergoes cancer treatment.

Toronto police have arrested 35-year-old Bradley Warford of Barrie, Ontario. He’s believed to be the man seen on hospital surveillance video around the time the laptop was stolen.

Officers working on the case recognized Warford “loitering” on the street in downtown Toronto.

Warford has been charged with Break and Enter to Commit and Breach of Parole. Police say further charges could be pending, as they’re reviewing other similar incidents.
