HALIFAX – The assault case against former Nova Scotia cabinet minister Percy Paris has been adjourned until July 4.

Defence lawyer Elizabeth Buckle told provincial court in Halifax that she needs more time to go over disclosure before proceeding.

Paris, who was not in court, faces charges of assault and uttering threats after an alleged incident involving Liberal member Keith Colwell.

Paris resigned as minister of economic and rural development last month after saying he lost his composure during the incident outside a washroom in the legislature.

He remains a sitting NDP member for the Halifax-area riding of Waverley-Fall River-Beaverbank.
