B.C. beats Alberta at Brier

British Columbia skip Jeff Richard didn’t make things easy for Alberta’s Kevin Koe Monday morning at the Halifax Metro Centre.

Richard managed to knock his opponent out of the undefeated ranks in a 7-5 win at the 2010 Tim Hortons Brier.

Earlier on in the tournament, Richard held an 8-7 victory over Manitoba’s Jeff Stoughton and lost 7-6 to Ontario’s Glenn Howard in a close game.

Richard curled 89 per cent in the game in comparison to Koe’s 78, although Koe was considered a favorite.

Alberta’s loss will knock Koe down to 3-1, behind Ontario’s Glenn Howard- who was set to play New Brunswick’s James Grattan this afternoon.

The only other game saw the recovery of Newfoundland and Labrador’s Gushue from his Sunday loss to Koe with 10-3 seven-end victory over Nova Scotia’s Ian Fitzner-LeBlanc.
