A Winnipeg doctor who leveled accusations of unsafe and unethical practices among pathologists at the Health Sciences Centre has been discredited in a report released today.
Dr. David Grynspan claimed the pathologists, who analyzed tissue samples to diagnose diseases, were so overworked that patient safety was at risk.
He also accused fellow doctors of overbilling, and claimed he was bullied to keep quiet.
An independent review committee said it found no evidence of any of that, and slammed Grynspan for what it called disruptive and inappropriate conduct.
Grynspan no longer works in the pathology department.
Opposition critics say the report is a whitewash.
“They basically, right at the beginning of the report, smeared the credibility of the whistleblower. Which, in my view, taints the whole objectivity of the review committee,” says Tory Health Critic Myrna Driedger.
