SASKATOON – There will be an added glow to Saskatoon today as SaskEnergy carries out a controlled flare of natural gas.
The six-metre flame was ignited this morning and will burn for 12 hours from a flare stack temporarily attached to a south-end pipeline.

SaskEnergy says the burn is necessary to help remove gas from an existing pipeline in order to begin new pipeline construction in the area.
The utility says there will be no disruptions to natural gas service.
