It’s believed an inmate killed in a Saskatchewan prison this week is a founding member of Winnipeg’s Indian Posse street gang.
It is alleged that Daniel Richard Wolfe was killed and two other inmates seriously injured in a jail brawl Monday at the maximum-security unit of the Saskatchewan penitentiary.
Corrections Canada has not confirmed the identity of the victims, but reportedly the fight involved at least 10 inmates.
The maximum security side of the prison remains in lockdown.
RCMP are at the penitentiary investigating and consider Wolfe’s death a homicide.
The 33-year-old was sentenced last November to life in prison after being convicted of killing two people in a Saskatchewan home invasion.
So far no charges have been laid in his death, but Manitoba jail officials are concerned about retribution in local prisons.
